MIXED EMOTIONS:
QUIZICCALLY Doubtful
A quizzically doubtful expression sits at the crossroads of curiosity and scepticism. It’s the look of someone weighing a claim with a raised eyebrow and a tilted head, open enough to listen but unwilling to accept without a nudge of proof. Doubt is present, but it’s not cynical; it’s inquisitive, testing the edges of an idea to see where it holds and where it frays.
There’s a gentle hesitation in it—a pause that says, “I’m not convinced yet.” The quizzical note keeps the doubt supple rather than rigid, turning scrutiny into a kind of playful examination. It suggests an agile mind at work, probing for coherence, asking quiet questions of logic and motive, and waiting to be surprised by a better answer.
Socially, it invites explanation rather than shutting conversation down. It signals readiness to be persuaded if the case is clear, while guarding against easy assurances and convenient half-truths. In that sense, quizzically doubtful is a respectful challenge: an expression that keeps the door open, but asks you to knock properly.
This work is produced as a limited edition - hand‑pulled in the studio, signed/stamped and numbered to ensure their authenticity and collectability. Each edition is created using traditional silkscreen techniques on archival paper, with every layer printed by hand.
Collectors can choose to acquire these works in two forms:
• On Paper — the edition in its purest state, unframed, offering flexibility for personal presentation.
• Artist‑Framed — mounted and framed by the artist, using bespoke methods to present the work as a complete, ready‑to‑hang artwork.
This dual approach allows the work to be appreciated either as a print to be lived with and framed to taste, or as a finished object crafted entirely within the artist’s practice.
