The Absurd Struggle
‘The Absurd Struggle’ explores the raging conflict within our minds, between our primal instincts and our more measured selves; the dynamic tension embodying absurdist philosophy, illustrating how we strive to impose fragile order on an inherently disordered world.
In this piece, I depict two contrasting facets of myself. The larger, primal figure represents untamed instinct and the power of biological cravings and compulsive cycles, while the smaller version clinging atop symbolises the determined drive to guide, control, and endure amid relentless pressure.
internal conflict, central to absurdist thought, extends beyond the individual. Minor addictions - whether technology, alcohol, or sugar - mirror society’s broader existential struggle. These compulsions, both personal and systemic, are exploited by corporations to warp societal norms, feeding the masses comforts that erode autonomy and accountability.
The work is a testament to the paradox of existence, where every painful, raw, arduous battle lays the foundation for transformation. It celebrates the steadfast resilience of those who persist in their quest for purpose, even when their pursuits appear futile or inherently absurd.
